FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, August 09, 2007 ALAMOSA, CO – The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad launches its end-of-summer “Golden Ticket” program Monday, offering two free tickets for kids 12 and under for every paid adult ticket, redeemable any weekday until Friday, August 31, 2007. Families looking for memorable, affordable ways to spend the last days of summer can enjoy a day of railroading, sight-seeing and fun on the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad’s San Luis Express, with round-trip service from historic Alamosa to the small art town of La Veta. Kids will love snaking through the colorful canyons of the Sangre de Cristos, rolling along beneath towering mountain peaks, watching for wildlife, and enjoying a two-hour stop in La Veta for lunch and playing in the park. For the grownups, rich railroad history, fascinating natural history, breathtaking views and quaint small towns along the route offer up an experience not soon forgotten. In La Veta, downtown artisan shops and galleries provide a chance to unwind and do some shopping before returning to Alamosa in late afternoon. Look for this season’s Golden Ticket in your local newspaper, or download one directly from our web site at www.alamosatrain.com. Reservations can be made online or by phone at (877) 726-RAIL, but Golden Tickets must be presented at time of ticketing to receive your free kid’s tickets (up to $66 value), so don’t forget yours! Don’t send the kids back to school without making memories on the rails this year with the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad.
