FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, June 16, 2007 ALAMOSA, CO – As part of its growing summer lineup, the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad invites people of all ages to join us on Friday, June 22nd, for fun rides, wild water play and a pizza lunch on the Waterpark Special. The special, Alamosa-bound train will leave at 9:50am from the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad station in Antonito, Colorado located across from the Cumbres & Toltec station, less than 10 miles north of the New Mexico border. At the Alamosa station, shuttle service will be provided to the Inn of the Rio Grande’s brand new indoor waterpark for a refreshing day of fun, food and frolicking before the return trip to Antonito that afternoon. “I know when my three kids were young we always spent the summer looking for new things to do, something different that both the kids and we as parents could enjoy together,” says Ed Ellis, president of the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. “We wanted to put together a package for families that provided a full day of fun for everyone, and we’re pleased to be partnering with the waterpark to do that.” The train will also stop to pick up passengers in the small San Luis Valley towns of Romeo and La Jara marking the first passenger train pickup service available in those communities in more than 50 years. Tickets are just $17 per person and can be purchased online, or by phone at 877-726-RAIL. Prices include the round-trip train ride, shuttle service, waterpark admission and a slice of yummy pizza and soft drink. Youth groups welcome! What better way to turn down the sizzle knob on summer than to spend a day in the Land of Cool Sunshine? |
